- Drape the tie around your neck with the wide end on your right.
- The wide end should hang about 12 inches lower than the narrow end.
- Cross the wide part over the narrow end.
- Bring the wide end up and push it up through the loop behind the narrow end.
- Hold the wide end and pull it down in front.
- Pass the wide end behind the narrow end from left to right.
- Bring the wide end up again.
- Push it down through the loop behind the narrow end.
- Hold the wide end and pass it through the knot in front.
- Adjust the dimple in the tie by pinching it as you tighten the knot.
- Hold the narrow end and slide the knot up to your collar.
- Adjust the length if needed by pulling on the narrow end.
- The tip of the tie should just touch the top of your belt buckle.
- Ensure the tie is centered and the knot is snug against your collar.
- Tuck the narrow end into the keeper loop on the back of the wide end.
- Smooth out any wrinkles in the tie.
- Check that the tie hangs straight and the knot is symmetrical.
- Adjust the collar of your shirt around the tie.
- For a final touch, slightly loosen the knot for a more relaxed look if desired.
- Practice this method a few times to perfect your technique.
